Vikki Vansickle + TATAS: The Toronto According to Authors Survey

So I'm way behind on posting interviews for the Toronto According to Authors Survey, but rest assured I have a few more good ones in the pipeline.

Today we have the lovely Vikki Vansickle, YA author, bookseller, library goddess and (for full disclosure) a great friend of mine (and a total fox - look at that photo). Vikki published her first book, Words that Start with B, with Scholastic last year and already has a sequel coming out later this year. She has a Masters in Children's Literature and conducts workshops in schools and libraries as well as through the Harbourfront Centre. She's basically superhuman.

But I will let you get the goods from Vikki herself. Enjoy!

The Toronto According to Authors Survey - Answers from Vikki Vansickle

Your favourite...

Place to see a movie?
The Cumberland. Great selection of films and fountain pop options.

Writing spot?
My living room, which features a big bay window and lots of light. I've also been known to work at Ezra's Pound on Dupont. They have great scones.

Bookstore or library branch?

My favourite bookshop will always be The Flying Dragon.

Grocery or food store?
Nancy's Cheese.

Park or outdoor spot?
Toronto Island. Beaches, petting zoo, funky houses, tons of cats. What more do you need?

Little-known hangout?
I love grabbing a post-show drink in the upstairs bar in the main space at Theatre Passe Muraille.

Booze-serving establishment?
Eat My Martini.

Annual or recurring event?

Summerworks Theatre Festival.

Gallery/theatre/reading/concert venue?
Supermarket in Kensington.

Underrated/usually reviled spot?
Hot dog carts. I have a weakness for street meat.

There you have it. The charming Vikki has spoken, and I've got a few more surveys before the series wraps up. So stay tuned!
